Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) - Bridge Course

Course Overview

Our AEMT Bridge Course is designed to streamline your pathway to advanced certification by focusing on only the essential advanced-level curriculum, eliminating the redundancy of EMT-Basic refresher material. This program assumes that students already possess foundational EMT knowledge and are prepared for advanced topics. To ensure readiness, applicants must pass an entrance exam as part of the admission process.

Flexible Online Learning

The didactic portion of the course is asynchronous, allowing you to complete lectures on your schedule. You'll have access to a comprehensive course management system with preloaded materials, including videos, presentations, and quizzes. This format provides flexibility while maintaining a structured approach to learning.

Advanced Curriculum Focus

The bridge program covers the advanced scope of practice topics required for AEMT certification, including:

  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Advanced Patient Assessment
  • Airway Management and Oxygen Therapy
  • Shock and Bleeding Control
  • Pharmacology for AEMTs
  • IV Therapy and Fluid Resuscitation

Hands-On Skill Labs and Clinicals

Although the lectures are online, hands-on training remains a core component. Students will attend scheduled in-person skill labs at designated training sites, where they will practice essential skills in a realistic simulation environment. Additionally, clinical rotations will provide real-world experience with local EMS agencies, giving you the opportunity to apply your skills in the field.

No Psychomotor Exam Requirement

As of recent updates, there is no longer a psychomotor evaluation at the AEMT level. This allows students to focus on mastering practical skills during labs and clinical rotations without the additional pressure of a separate psychomotor exam.

Prepare for National Certification

Upon completion of the bridge course and required clinical hours, you’ll be eligible to take the NREMT written exam in your home state. With our streamlined approach and focus on essential skills, you’ll be well-prepared for success.

AHA STUDENT MANUAL AND TEXTBOOK POLICY

Each student must have the current, appropriate course textbook of their own readily available for use before, during, and after the course.

Textbooks are designed for individual use and are an integral part of the student’s education. Students may reuse their textbooks during renewals or updates UNTIL NEW SCIENCE GUIDELINES ARE PUBLISHED. (i.e. 2020 AHA Update)

The American Heart Association (AHA) designs their resuscitation courses using the most current educational design concepts. In order to maximize the students’ learning potential and keep course length manageable, the AHA have designed the classroom courses with the intent that students will have the opportunity to study the course materials outside of the class itself. It is necessary that students have access to student manuals before, during, and after each course, especially if the students are less familiar with the skills.

ARES BOOK POLICY

NO BOOKS may be returned or refunded for any reason. Books may not be issued during the course and then returned for a refund; this includes if it has been unopened. Books may also not be shared during the course; this is against American Heart Association rules and guidelines. Per AHA Rules, each student must have their own current book in order to attend an AHA course.
